I'm biased towards designerly ways of thinking and working, but viewing no practice as the "best" one, I'm trying to enrich and evolve my approach and fill the blind spots by borrowing from lean, system thinking and various forms of mapping, currently finding Wardley mapping an interesting and welcome addition to the toolkit.
Exploring the problem space requires teamwork and too many skills to fit inside a single head. I’ve been lucky to do this kind of work with some great people, experts in their own fields, like technology, bioinformatics und product management.
Focusing on immediate problem solving often produces unexpected consequences and externalities that fall onto other people, systems and environment, often incurring significant damage. I try to raise awareness before issues arise.
In a year or two this list will evolve.
Currently at BlackRock through their eFront acquisition, working on Invest, used by investment funds and investors to manage their private equity investments. Beside actively supporting cross-functional team, I partnered with another designer and started a new user research initiative. In the past I have worked as an Interaction Designer at Seven Bridges on tools for cancer researchers and bioinformaticians. Between longer engagements I have consulted startups on user research strategy, set up processes for communicating with users, facilitated synthesis and framing workshops, explored ideas through prototyping, and freelanced on a fair share of projects (started in high school).
Living near two rivers, in Belgrade, Serbia. On weekends I try to practice woodworking and make things with my life partner - Katarina. As millennial stereotype goes, that started as a hobby we tried to monetise. The joke’s on us. Somewhat reluctantly I identify as a burst based binge reader, especially of science fiction, spreading my love for Lem, Le Guin, Gibson and Kiš far and wide. Fiction expands and restructures my worldview, and helps me ground myself in interconnectedness of parts. I have strong opinions about coffee.
